Halls Honeysuckle Vine - Lonicera Japonica

Halls Honeysuckle Vine attracts all sorts of wildlife including, hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. It has yellow and white flowers and grows more than 20 to 30 feet in height. It easy to care for and requires very little attention. It tolerates almost any kind of soil and survives even in extreme heats or droughts. It is a climbing vine.

Halls honeysuckle is also referred to as Japanese honeysuckle and is one of the most fragrant varieties. Planting this vine near your home will provide a pleasant smell in the air to enjoy from your porch or patio. The vine is reasonably fast growing and blooms in the spring. One of the unique features of this twining vine is the flowers. The vine produces white and yellow flowers to enjoy throughout the summer.

The leaves grow in pairs along the vine and are oval. The flowers are trumpet-shaped and are about an inch long. They come in pairs as well and blooms last through the summer.

Halls honeysuckle produces blackberries in the late summer and early fall. The vine can be planted where it can climb a trellis, wall or fence. It can also be used as a ground cover. It is a hardy vine and will grow in wet areas and tolerate drought. It will even grow in poor soils. The vine grows in just about all zones from South Dakota to Texas. It remains green in warm climates and will shed its leaves in a cold environment. However, the leaves quickly return when it gets warm.

Halls honeysuckle vine attracts hummingbirds as well as bees that are important for pollination. Songbirds and white-tailed deer are excited by the berries. The vines are very sturdy, and they require virtually no maintenance. They can be trimmed occasionally or let them grow to provide a beautifully fragrant privacy screen.
