Tall Garden Phlox - Phlox paniculata

Garden Phlox brings a multi-sensual experience to your garden or landscape. This timeless perennial has brought color, fragrance, and motion to yards for over 100 years. The leaves of garden phlox may be light green or variegated. The white, pink, red, lavender or coral blooms add beauty to the garden from July through September. Deadheading can assure prolific blooming. There has to be a balance in the soil conditions for garden phlox to reach peak performance. They need to be planted in an area where soil will drain well, yet also can retain adequate moisture to support optimum growing conditions for the plant. Mulch can be used to help maintain moisture. It's best to water garden phlox at the ground around the plant as opposed to watering the entire plant. Whether used as a background plant, border plant or as part of a compilation of plants in your yard, you’ll want to space garden phlox to accommodate their potential width.  They attract butterflies. Butterflies bring an element of relaxation to a garden. Planting garden phlox near a birdbath will bring feathered visitors to your garden. The lush foliage provides a safe resting place for birds. Place a bench or outdoor furniture near garden phlox, and you can enjoy the aromatic benefit’s the plant offers.
